Affordable Website Design in Charlotte
A published price and a published list of what it does not cover, so nothing arrives as a change order.
What is included
A written scope listing exclusions as explicitly as inclusions
Custom design, not a template two competitors in South End already licensed
A defined conversion path — one obvious next step per page
Conversion tracking configured and verified firing, not merely installed
Forms wired into your CRM and tested end to end against a real inbox
A URL redirect map, so a rebuild does not discard visibility you already hold
Mobile-first build with a real speed budget
Hosting and domain in your own accounts, billed to you directly
Full ownership at handover — code, domain, hosting account, and analytics in your name
The exclusions are where affordable projects go wrong
Charlotte has around 911,000 residents as of 2023 and a banking-shaped professional culture where people are used to reading terms properly. That instinct tends to get suspended when buying a website, because the documents are not written to be read that way — a quote lists what is included, at length, and says nothing about what is not.
That silence is where the trouble starts. A project that is genuinely affordable at the quoted number becomes something else entirely once three or four assumptions surface: that you were supplying the copy, that photography was your problem, that the number covered one round of revisions rather than four, that the integration with your scheduling system was a separate conversation. None of those is dishonest. They were simply never written down, and every one of them arrives as a change order at the worst moment.
So this page publishes the other list. What the entry price does not cover, stated plainly, before you spend anything. It is an unusual thing to put on a sales page and it is the most useful thing we can tell you, because the exclusions are what decide whether the price you were quoted is the price you pay.

What $1,000 covers — and what it does not
Basic plans start at $1,000. Published, national, and the same figure for a Mecklenburg County business as anywhere else. Here is what sits outside it.
Not included: content, unless you ask. The entry price assumes you supply the copy. If you would rather we wrote it, that is roughly $150 to $300 a page depending on research. Deciding this before the project starts is the single biggest thing you can do to keep the cost down — the expensive state is the middle one, where copy is coming from someone eventually and the build sits idle.
Not included: photography and video. We will use what you have and tell you what is worth commissioning, but we do not shoot it. For a business where the premises or the people are the product, budget for a local photographer; it is money better spent than almost any design upgrade.
Not included: unlimited revisions. The round count is written into the scope before work starts, so you know it rather than discovering it. "Revisions until you are happy" is either untrue or unaffordable, and it usually becomes a change order in month two.
Not included: complex integrations, by default. A CRM handoff or a booking system is normally straightforward. A proprietary tool with an undocumented API supported by email is a week of work, and it is scoped and priced separately once we have seen what you have.
Not included: ongoing SEO or ads. The build gives you correct technical foundations — speed, structure, redirects, tracking. It is not a campaign, and a provider bundling "SEO" into a build price without saying what that means is selling you a phrase.
Not included: your annual running costs. Hosting and the domain renewal are billed to you directly, in your own accounts, so nothing expires on a card you cannot see.
What is always included, and never removed to hit a lower number: custom design, a defined conversion path, conversion tracking configured and verified firing, forms tested end to end, a redirect map, mobile performance, and full ownership of the code, domain, hosting, and analytics.
Payment. Half at start and half at launch, split further on larger projects if you ask.

Mecklenburg County’s economy centres on banking and financial services, energy, and motorsports and manufacturing, and the exclusions bite differently in each.
Banking and financial services. The content exclusion is the one to plan for. Copy here passes through compliance, which means it is slow whoever writes it — and if you are supplying it, the schedule depends on a review cycle you may not control. Decide early whether we are writing it, because a build waiting on copy that is waiting on legal is the most expensive kind of idle.
Energy. Integrations are the usual surprise. Firms in this sector often run field service, dispatch, or compliance systems that predate the modern web and expose data awkwardly if at all. That work is real and worth doing; it just needs to be seen and scoped rather than assumed into the base price.
Motorsports and manufacturing. Photography is the exclusion that matters here, because the product is physical and visual. Stock imagery is transparently wrong for a supplier whose shop floor and equipment are the credential. Commission it locally; we will tell you what to shoot and in what format so it loads properly rather than arriving as a folder of six-megabyte files.
Uptown, South End, NoDa and Ballantyne also support quite different customer bases, and one generic city page written for all of them speaks clearly to none.
How the project runs
Audit
We review what you have now and where enquiries are being lost. You keep the findings either way.
Scope
Fixed price, fixed deliverables, and a launch date, all in writing before work starts.
Build
Design, build, tracking, and follow-up wired together and tested end to end.
Launch
Redirects mapped so you keep your rankings, every form and phone link checked by hand.
On results: no anonymous case studies, no percentage lifts, no logos we do not have permission to use. Those figures cannot be checked, which is precisely why they are so common in this industry. Ask on a call and we will walk through real projects with real context, including the ones that underperformed.
What we do commit to in writing: a fixed price against an agreed scope, an explicit exclusions list, a launch date, conversion tracking that fires, and a monthly report you can read in five minutes. The full process is documented here.

Questions from Charlotte business owners
How much does website design cost in Charlotte?
Basic plans start at $1,000, rising with page count, integrations, and whether we write the content. The price is national and does not carry a Charlotte premium. What we also give you is the exclusions list above, in writing, before you commit. Full breakdown here.
What is most likely to push our project over the quoted price?
Content, by a wide margin. Projects rarely overrun because the build was harder than expected; they overrun because copy was assumed to be arriving from someone and did not. Decide before the start whether you are writing it or we are — both are inexpensive, and the indecision between them is not. After that, the usual cause is an integration nobody had looked at closely.
Do you have an office in Charlotte?
No. Our office is in Salt Lake City and we work with Charlotte businesses remotely, over video calls and shared documents. We do not list addresses we do not occupy, so it is better stated here than discovered later.
Why publish what is not included? Most quotes do not.
Because the exclusions are what decide whether the quoted price is the price you pay, and leaving them out is what makes a low number look competitive. A quote that lists only inclusions is not more generous than one that lists both — it has just moved the uncomfortable conversation to a point where you are already committed. You are welcome to hold every other quote on your desk to the same standard.
