Best Web Design in Indianapolis
A standard measured after launch, when the pitch is over and only the results are left.
The pitch is not the product. Judge the ninety days after it
Indianapolis has roughly 879,000 residents as of 2023 and a business culture that tends to buy on relationship and reputation. That is a reasonable way to choose a provider and a poor way to evaluate one, because it front-loads the entire judgement into the period when everyone is on their best behaviour.
No website can honestly call its maker the best — the phrase has no measurement attached, which is exactly why it persists. What can be measured is a finished site, and the useful window is the first ninety days after launch. That is long enough for search engines to have crawled it, for real traffic to have arrived, and for any tracking that was never wired up correctly to have failed visibly.
Below are five things worth measuring in that window, all of which you can check yourself, and all of which should be agreed with your provider before the build rather than raised afterwards. Apply them to whoever you hire. Apply them to us.
Five measurements, and what a good answer looks like
1. Does the tracking actually fire? Not "is analytics installed" — is a phone tap, a form submission, and a booking each recorded as a distinct event you can find in a report. Test it yourself in week one by submitting the form and calling from a mobile. This is the most commonly skipped deliverable in the industry and the one that makes every other measurement possible. Ours is configured and verified firing before launch, not installed and assumed.
2. Did you keep the pages you already had? If you had a previous site, its URLs should redirect to their new equivalents. Check a handful of old links from an email or an old business card and see whether they land somewhere sensible or on a 404. Rebuilds routinely discard years of accumulated search visibility because nobody mapped this. The redirect map is a line item in our scope.
3. Is the site being crawled and indexed? Ninety days in, Search Console should show your important pages indexed rather than "Discovered — currently not indexed". If a provider cannot show you this, they are not looking at it. We hand over the Search Console property in your name and walk you through this report.
4. How fast is it on a mid-range phone? Run PageSpeed Insights on the mobile tab — the desktop score flatters everything, which is why it is the one that gets quoted. A site that was fast in a demo on a laptop and slow on a phone in a parking lot has been optimised for the sales meeting. We agree a performance budget before the build and it is enforced during it.
5. Can you change something without calling anyone? Pick a piece of content that will need updating — a price, a service, a date — and change it yourself. If that requires a developer, you have bought a dependency rather than an asset. Content that changes often is set up to be edited without us, and we show you how before handover.
Agree the measurements up front. The reason to raise all five before signing is that each one is cheap to build in and expensive to retrofit. A provider who welcomes the conversation is telling you something; so is one who deflects it.
On price: basic plans start at $1,000, published rather than assembled after a discovery call. A number that only exists once someone has assessed your budget is a number priced against your reaction.

Indianapolis industries we work with
Marion County’s economy rests on life sciences and pharmaceuticals, logistics and air cargo, and motorsports, and the five measurements weight differently across them.
Life sciences and pharmaceuticals. Buyers are institutional and technical, and published claims frequently pass through regulatory or legal review before going live. Measurement five — whether content can be changed without a developer — matters most here, because a specification or a compliance statement that needs updating is not something that can wait in a queue for a fortnight.
Logistics and air cargo. Indianapolis sits on a serious national air freight footprint, and those buyers are operational and time-poor. Measurement four decides these enquiries: capacity, coverage, and a phone number that loads immediately on a phone, often on a poor connection. Design sophistication counts for very little against a page that takes eight seconds to become usable.
Motorsports. Seasonal, event-driven, and heavily dated — schedules, results, appearances. That makes measurement five the deciding one again, and measurement one close behind, since a large share of the year’s enquiries arrive in a compressed window and you need to know which page produced them.
The Mile Square, Broad Ripple, Fountain Square and Castleton also support different customer bases, and a provider proposing one generic city page for all of them has not looked at the market.

Proof
Held to the same standard: we publish no case studies with round-number percentage gains and an anonymous client, because by the logic of this page they fail the test — an unnamed client cannot be checked, so the number means nothing. Ask on a call and we will name real projects, and go through the ones where a measurement came back badly and what we did about it.
What we will put in writing: a fixed price against an agreed scope, a launch date, a performance budget, tracking that demonstrably fires, and a monthly report you can read in five minutes. What we will never put in writing is a ranking promise. The full process is here.
Questions from Indianapolis business owners
How do I evaluate a web design company in Indianapolis?
Agree five measurements before you sign, then check them ninety days after launch: does the tracking fire for calls, forms, and bookings; did the old URLs redirect; are the important pages indexed in Search Console; how fast is it on a mid-range phone; and can you change content yourself. Each is cheap to build in and expensive to add later, which is why the conversation belongs before the contract.
How much does web design cost in Indianapolis?
Basic plans start at $1,000, rising with page count, integrations, and whether we write the content. The price is published and national rather than produced after a discovery call. Full breakdown here.
Do you have an office in Indianapolis?
No. Our office is in Salt Lake City and we work with Indianapolis businesses remotely, over video calls and shared documents. We do not list addresses we do not occupy — and a provider claiming a local presence you cannot independently verify has already failed one of the checks worth making.
What if the measurements come back badly at ninety days?
Then you have found it at ninety days rather than at eighteen months, which is the entire point of measuring. Three of the five — tracking, redirects, and indexing — are fixable in days once identified. Speed and editability are more structural and worth raising before the build for exactly that reason. Ask any provider what their remedy is when a measurement fails; a firm that has been asked before will answer immediately.
