Affordable Website Design in Chicago
The costs broken down honestly, including the ones that only appear in year two.
We publish our prices. See what moves the number.
Comparing quotes?
Three things worth checking on every quote you have, ours included:
- Who writes the content, and is it in the price?
- Is conversion tracking configured, or just analytics pasted in?
- Who owns the code, domain, and accounts at the end?
What is included — and what usually is not
Compare this against the cheapest quote you have. The gap is rarely in the design.
| Included with us | Typical budget build |
|---|---|
| A fixed price against a written scope before work starts | Template you will recognise on three competitor sites |
| Seasonal sections you can switch on and off yourself, no developer needed | Analytics pasted in, no conversions defined |
| Neighbourhood pages for the areas you genuinely serve | Forms email an inbox nobody monitors |
| Mobile-first build with a real performance budget | Unoptimised images, slow on cellular |
| Forms wired to your CRM, not to an inbox nobody watches | Built on a platform the site cannot leave |
| Conversion tracking configured and verified, so year-two spend is measurable | No redirect mapping — rankings reset at launch |
| Full ownership — code, domain, hosting, analytics, in your name | Support ends when the invoice clears |

What it costs, over three years
Basic plans start at $1,000, published and fixed against an agreed scope.
Year one. The build, plus hosting and domain at roughly $20 to $50 a month depending on the site. Content is free if you write it, or roughly $150 to $300 a page if we do.
Years two and three. This is where the quotes diverge. With us the parts that change — seasonal offers, service emphasis, pricing, photos — are yours to edit without a support ticket. That single difference is worth more than the gap between most quotes, because a site you cannot change is a site that goes stale precisely when demand shifts.
What moves the build number up. Page count first, which here often means neighbourhood pages worth having. Then integrations. Then content authorship.
Payment. Half at the start, half at launch, splittable on larger projects. Ask — it is routine.
The cheapest quote is rarely the cheapest site
Comparing web quotes in a city of roughly 2.7 million people as of 2023 usually means comparing one number against another number, which tells you very little. The relevant comparison is total cost over about three years, and that includes several things nobody puts on a proposal.
Three costs surface later, reliably. Every change costs money if you cannot edit the site yourself — and in a market where trades swing between winter and the building season, that means seasonal updates simply never happen. Untracked spend is wasted for as long as it goes unmeasured, because nothing tells you which page produced which job. And a platform you cannot leave means rebuilding from scratch when you outgrow it, which is paying twice for the same asset.
Affordable means the three-year number, not the invoice on day one.

Chicago industries we work with
Chicago’s finance and derivatives trading, manufacturing, and transportation and logistics base means a great deal of the valuable search here is B2B, which changes the cost profile.
Finance and trading. Content is the expensive input, not design. Copy has to be accurate enough to survive review by people who know the subject, and compliance considerations shape what can be claimed. Budget for the writing and the review rather than for visual refinement.
Manufacturing and industrial suppliers. Structure is the expensive input. Catalogues, specification tables, and capability pages need an information architecture that can grow for a decade. Getting this wrong is the most common reason an industrial site gets rebuilt early.
Transportation and logistics. Integrations. Dispatch systems, quoting engines, and tracking tools vary enormously in how well they connect, and the honest answer about a difficult API is worth more than an optimistic quote that overruns.
For consumer-facing trades, the Loop, River North, Lincoln Park, and the West Loop behave as separate local markets with different price expectations, and a single page for all four converts poorly in each.

Questions from Chicago business owners
How much does website design cost in Chicago?
Basic plans start at $1,000, rising with page count, integrations, and whether we write the content. Location does not change the price. See what does.
What are the ongoing costs after launch?
Hosting and domain, roughly $20 to $50 a month depending on the site. Optional maintenance on top. Nothing else appears on an invoice unless it was agreed first — and the parts you will want to change seasonally are yours to edit at no cost.
Can I really update it myself?
For the parts that change, yes, and for Chicago trades that is close to a requirement. We set up the seasonal content, offers, and service emphasis so you can edit them, and we show you how before handover rather than leaving you a manual.
Do you have an office in Chicago?
No. We work with Chicago businesses remotely and do not list addresses we do not occupy.
